Here's some good info that came into my inbox:
Technology brings some great things for children, but also new dangers, one of which being the prevalence of online predators lurking on the Internet. I thought this information would be of interest to your readers who are concerned about the safety of the children in and around their lives.
Actress/author/mother Jada Pinkett Smith, along with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and Duracell have partnered together on the Power of Parents program to update child safety messaging and encourage parents/guardians to take a more active role in educating the children in their lives through a free book, safety guide and video broadcasts available online.
The book (The Great Tomato Adventure) features the Teachable Moments Guide, which has age-specific role-play scenarios meant to help parents/guardians begin dialogues on modern safety. The book and guide will be available today online at www.powerofparentsonline.com. In addition, a video of Jada reading the book will be posted on the site as well as iTunes (what - no Zune Marketplace? :)). Also on the site is the option for parents to register for a free reminder service that reminds parents to update their children’s emergency photo, a list of seasonable tips and a downloadable safety guide.
