I has such high hopes for my LG Vx7000. Big screen, records videos, great mechanicals.
But as a data enabled phone this device is just painful. It still doesn't even run the New York Times app that ran on the vx6000 a year ago. Aaargh. Plus, setting bookmarks in the browser is about as much fun as stepping on Legos.
I can't get the crappy photos out unless I email them through Verzion. There is no Bluetooth. The user interface, with its folders, is asinine. It categorizes and hides every mobile service or application. So where do I find the New York Times app I'm looking for? Under "Get Tunes and Tones"? "Get Fun and Games"? "Get Going"? "Get Pix and Flix"?
Maybe "Get News and Info"? Makes sense. Click there and the browser launches. Huh? You can't even search for new services/apps. Connect to my email - are you kidding? Maybe, if you like hunting through a WAP browser for Yahoo Mail.
The occasional power cycling is a nice touch, though. Keeps me on my toes. And the fact it doesn't work at all outside of the US is just great.
Verizon - can you hear me now? I'm switching to T-Mobile.
How many pages to the User Manual?
Maybe the Vx7000 is a testimonial to "too many cooks spoil the broth" ?
With so many available features, functions, standards, and user-cultures, it seems like coming up with a friendly flexible functioning "device" is still a few years off.
And GSM seems like the only way to go for worldwide telecomm.
T-mobile has the right idea.
