Well, I lost my LG Vx6000 phone again last week. After a day I made some inquiries and I could get a new VX7000 phone for about an extra $100 (thanks to rebates and credits and various stuff).
I decided to take the plunge and if the VX6000 turned up I could give it to my wife (who has a Motorola 120c - ugh!).
I've had the VX7000 for a few days and it's very impressive. The biggest difference is the screen - big, clear and much higher resolution than the VX6000. The fonts are smaller but still very readable, so you get much more information on the screen.
Not only does it have a camera with a built-in flash, but it takes 15 second video clips with sound. I took a little movie of my 2.5 year old at the pool on Sunday and sent it, right there and right from the phone, to my Dad. It shows up as an email with about a 200kb Quicktime file attached.
The amount of downloadable content is still a bit slim - no mobile New York Times yet, but I download a couple of good games - JAMDAT Golf and SpongBob darts. The Qualcomm BREW enviroment starts up very quickly - a big improvement over the VX6000. One annoyance is that all the downloaded content is organized for you into folders and I'd rather not search folders to find what I downloaded (is it in "Get Going" or "Get News"?).
If you splurge for the data cable ($40) you can use the VX7000 as a 144kbps modem. Not bad if you're in a pinch for a connection and can't find a WiFi hotspot. It just uses up your monthly minutes (just as those downloads and data connections from the phone do as well).
Oh yes, it's also good for making phone calls.
And the VX6000? Found it under a pile of clothes. Oh well - everyone gets an upgrade!
