I have it on good authority that this Digital Dad blog is being read by some higher-ups at General Motors based on my post a couple of weeks ago about our new 2004 Nissan Quest. I suppose that Digital Dad is right in the square of their "minivan demographic.
Given the executive exposure I thought I would update the Nissan Quest post with some items that I think should be on the Quest, but are not. Overall, nothing major, as the Quest is awesome, but here are a few items:
The Quest has a great car navigation system and it would be fun if the map was shown on the pull-down DVD screens as well (when a DVD is not playing). My kids love maps and I think they would get a kick out of watching the map in real-time.
The connection of an iPOD or other MP3 player is clumsy. I am running it through the AUX audio input of the DVD player, which means running RCA cables on the floor to the deck and the plugs have already been stepped on (ouch). There is an unused Satellite Radio button that really should be an AUX button with RCA input under the dash, not right on the floor in the way of small feet.
There should be a warning tone when you put it in gear and you have the rear hatch open. There is so much glass back there that at a glance you can't tell if the hatch is open or closed. This makes it possible to reverse out of the garage with the hatch open - not good!
It would be niuce to have dual zone audio - different sources for front seats and rear. The challenge would be a control layout that is easily useable.
Bluetooth connection to turn my mobile phone into a speakerphone through the car's sound system.
A completely uneccesary option would be the Tracvision system, which adds DirecTV right into the car through a disc that is mounted on the roof. I wouldn;t sign up for thsi but inevitably someone will.
Here is a great idea - I'd like the cup holders to be cooled with a small induction coil or some other mechanism at the bottom. Just like heated seats, cooled cup holders could be switched on or off. This would be great! I suspect that heated cup holders would pose too much of a safety hazard.
That's it for now......still a great car.
How do u use that bluetooth

I recently purchased a 2005 Nissan Quest. I'm looking for a definate answer as to with Sirius Satellite tuner is the correct model for my vehicle. I DO NOT have the 6 disk changer and that semes to play a factor in wich tuner in needed. The dealor tells me I need the 999U9-NV004, but some web sites say you can only use this if you have the factory 6 disk changer. Any sugestions?
