Since I started this blog I've been learning about the "blogosphere" and how this information gets disseminated. You might have noticed a small icon down on the left that looks like
. There are variations on this little graphic but essentially it says that this blog is available as a "feed" that can be read through various RSS or feed readers.
These readers enable you to subscribe to various blogs so you don't have to keep going back to specific addresses on the web (like mine!). I've tried two but there are many. One is called NewsGator and it plugs nicely into Outlook. The other is Bloglines. The interesting thing about Bloglines is that it is web based. It's also free but so are many other readers (NewsGator is $29).
One point of confusion I found was that it was unclear how to subscribe to a feed, or blog. For example, in NewsGator you can right click on a feed icon like I have and select "Subscribe in NewsGator", but with other readers you need to manually enter the url or search for the feed, which typically does not come up with what you are looking for - at least it doesn't come up with Digital Dad!
There doesn't seem to a standard way to subscribe, and I would think that by clicking on a feed icon you should be subscribed automatically to whatever reader you have installed. Kind of a crazy idea!
If you're interested I suggest you try Bloglines and take it from there.
